Stylish Caterpillar

I caught this fuzzy little caterpillar cater-pillaring along our front deck this morning. Have never seen a caterpillar quite like it, with the white (might be tinted a VERY pale greenish – hard to tell) spiky fur and the black… antennae? Pokey things? Whatever they are, two bunches on each end. So very stylish! Must get great radio reception!

And google images comes through again – apparently this is the caterpillar of the Hickory Tussock Moth and should NOT be touched or can shoot its poisonous hairs at you and cause rashes and painful welts – yeesh. “The More You Know…..” Very glad I had no urge to pet it! (Update – a friend tells me it’s not a poisonous thing but rather an allergic reaction thing – also good to know! Thanks!)

Saugerties Lighthouse Photos

As promised, some actual shots of the Saugerties Lighthouse itself. You have to approach it from a path along the edge of the water, over lots of wooden pallet walkways and sandy stretches, through great tall weeds, with views of all the water chestnuts on the Hudson River. The only other way to get there is via boat.

Canvas Field Bags, Sack Packs, and Messenger BagsI’ve just recently added three new kinds of canvas bags to my Art of FoxVox Shop! The three styles are Sack Packs, Field Bags, Messenger Bags, and they come in natural khaki (shown in the picture) as well as a cheerful yellow, have antique brass hardware, and are enzyme-washed for a vintage look.

You can find them on just about any design in my shop: Celtic, Fine Art, Humorous, Zodiac, Runes, etc. etc. Just click here to browse for the designs you like in the shop, and then choose the bag you like best from among the related products. Saugerties Lighthouse – Pre-Irene: Black and White Photos

Before Hurricane Irene came, John and I visited the historical Saugerties Lighthouse in Saugerties, NY. Here are just a few of the black and white photos I took while there. I will be posting color shots of the lighthouse itself in my next post, once I have them all cropped and online. For now though, just a few artsy shots:

On their website they show a photo of the flooding caused by Hurricane Irene. Just to give you an idea, the flood water would have been over the top step in my third photo, above. I wish them well with their cleanup and recovery!

Celtic Skull and Crossbones Original T-shirts, Prints, Etc!

Poison! Death! Pirates! Skeletons! Halloween! *grin* This design is a little different than my usual bright and colorful Celtic creations, but when John suggested it to me, I thought it would be fun to try something a little out of the normal zone. It’s a classic Skull and Crossbones design, marked with original Celtic knotwork art, and I also gave it a bit of distressing to make it look a bit worn, and possibly more evil. (Evil people are distressed! Have you heard that maniacal laughter? That’s not relaxed, jolly chuckling!)

(Sorry about the obvious copyright message across the image. The simpler designs are somewhat easier to ‘accidentally swipe’ – LOL. But the copyright notice doesn’t appear on any of the final prints or products, so no worries.) Click the above picture for frightening prints for your wall – sort of like a Celtic-Mexican Day of the Dead visage.

This distressingly scary dead dude also comes on, of course, things like t-shirts, cards, etc., which are excellent for things like Talk Like A Pirate Day (September 19th), and naturally, Halloween! The t-shirts make a convenient costume for a party or trick or treating, tote bags are great for candy bags, buttons make a convenient way to rebel when costumes can’t be worn, and there are cards, and other cool stuff – take a look-see:

Click on a product above to browse the entire selection, which also includes Celtic Skull and Crossbones pint glasses (no one will drink out of YOUR glass), laptop skins, iPad and iPhone covers, pajamas, and, yes, more!

Okay, all of these exciting marketing words and exclamation points have tired me out. But if you like the design, please feel free to click a few links and browse through all the spooky bone art. 🙂
