Tie Dye Turtle Watercolor

Ever seen a red earred slider turtle with a technicolor shell? I’m pretty sure this is one of those rare non-conformist turtles that won’t let itself become stacked with other turtles at all. *grin* Anyway, this is a watercolor done on 5″x7″ 140 lb. hot press watercolor paper. I squared off the image by digitally copying sections of the turtle’s shell and using them on the top and bottom. I like how the turtle sort of looks like it’s in an aquarium and sort of doesn’t at the same time – maybe the turtle is happy about that too. Oh, and I’d like to thank my models, Penelope and Myrtle, who are right now sunning themselves on the rocks by their pond in the yard.

This design (without the watermark, of course) is available on lots of cool stuff in my shop and unframed prints are coming soon too.

If This Were A Dream….

… What Would You Do Differently? That’s an excellent question, the kind that makes you pause from your usual dash through life, which is probably a good thing, eh? Some say that physical reality is just a dream of a different kind anyway.

You can find this design on all kinds of apparel as well as bumper stickers at the Art of FoxVox shop by clicking here.

When I see this question, it always makes me stop whatever I’m doing, stand a bit taller, take a deep breath, and reassess my focus, even a little. This helps me step out of the normal, linear, and limited assumptions of how life supposedly works too – again, a good thing, no?

Blue LED Faucet Light

It’s got a USEFUL factor of zero and a NEATO factor of ten… turn the water on, and the LEDs turn on and the water turns blue! It would be like having a bathroom in some swanky blues/jazz nightclub – LOL. Okay, it may be somewhat less pointless if you’re going to the bathroom in the middle of the night, so maybe the USEFUL factor can go up to one. Still – for only $15 bucks… *grin*

Tea For Me Watercolor

Tea for Me! So says the cat! This was actually a small 4″x4″ ‘art squared’ commissioned watercolor painting for a friend. I kind of like the idea that someone just made a steaming hot mug of tea, and then went to, say, go get the book they are in the middle of reading, and while they were gone the cat jumped onto the table, assuming that the tea was for them. That would be a natural assumption for a cat, would it not? *grin* Click here to see what this looks like on tile boxes, tote bags, t-shirts, and especially mugs… for tea! And tea (and cat) lovers too.

Somewhere in California

The hills around here all host at least one lone tree growing at an odd angle. Doesn’t matter which way you look, as long as its up. *grin* Here’s my watercolor attempt at capturing the feel of this classic lone tree:

Somewhere in California Watercolor

This was also the first time I used my new hot press watercolor paper, which is smoother than the more classic and textured cold press. So far I like it – the paint moves around a little bit more on its own, so tends to add a bit more of an uncontrollable element to things. Anyway, for tshirts, cards, magnets and such. And, for archival prints.
