Unframed Archival Prints! I’ve been wanting to offer unframed, archival-quality prints for a while – especially now that I have my new camera! Cafepress only has framed prints (in limited sizes) and posters though, so I’ve been looking into alternatives.
I finally settled on getting a prints account through DeviantArt. I’ve heard nothing but excellent reviews of their quality, and they exist to support art and artists. Plus a prints account is only a one-time fee of $24.99, they have a number of sizes/proportions (including square! most of my celtic stuff is square) and you can set your own price markup too, which I’ve set to as little as $4 or $5 for smaller dimensions. (Another cool thing is that I can use FTP to upload large images – a lot of scripts for these kinds of things just time out on large files when you’re on dialup.)
I put an explanation in my cafepress shop about how buying unframed archival prints requires that you go through a different service and shopping cart experience, but I don’t think it will be too confusing. If you’re curious about the explanation, and about how DeviantArt does their prints, click here. If you just want to go directly to see my available prints (which I know you do, right? *grin*), click here.
