Neat! I missed it this year (June 5th) of course, but maybe next year I’ll make it to Sand Castle Day in Cannon Beach, OR. I wonder what it would take to enter? I’d probably need a bit more sand’n’water practice before then – LOL – I have lots of SNOW practice though – you get it automatically when growing up in upstate NY. When I was in elementary school, we had a TON of snow one year so each grade did their own snow sculpture. We did the Sphinx and won a prize. I only remember one other sculpture – the 3rd graders made a huge snow castle from snow blocks – but I do remember all the entries were pretty impressive – especially seen in one group in the same parking lot, Almost macabre… reminiscent of the shrub & ice sculptures from Edward Scissorhands – LOL.
