I ran across (almost stepped on) a 2 1/2 foot garter snake yesterday, by the
tadpole/pollliwog area. We’re pretty sure that’s why a few of the polliwogs have
been disappearing every night – ugh. But there were hardly any left after the
previous mass migrations to the garden area anyway, so John put the 10 or so
tadpoles that are still legless into the outside fish tank with the little minnows that
had come along during the original salvage mission. And he put a few toad
polliwogs in a smaller container, inside the back porch away from the snake. Also,
John relocated a tree frog polliwog to the garden last night. It still had a bit of a tail,
but it was jumping all over the place – really cute. “God speed, little doodle!”
