When I was living in Raleigh, NC, I was listening to a public radio station and by calling in, won a CD by a Celtic band called the Tannahill Weavers. Since I love most Celtic Music, I was thrilled, and the CD is terrific. Anyway, I’m listening to it again and remembering that the first time I had put the CD in the player, I had to check the lyrics to see what language the songs were in. Turned out to be…. [drum roll please]… ENGLISH! *grin* But seriously – it was the english language, but SCOTTISH english, if you know what I mean. Giving us such lyrics as, “Then haste ye back jamie and bide nae awa'” and “I sit on my creepie and spin at my wheel, and think on the laddie that lo’ed me sae weel.” Talk about ‘atmosphere’ – LOL – play this CD and you’ll feel bad that you’re not wearing a plaidie, I’m sure. 😉
