I know what you mean about mornings. The other day I woke up at about 5 a.m., and jumped out of bed to be up BEFORE ‘morning’ hit – I think it’s because I have these old associations that when I wake up in the morning, time is not MINE. For most of my life it’s belonged to school and work. But when you wake up at night instead of in the morning, you wake up to your OWN time and I find I like ‘being there’ better.

During daylight hours, everyone else is up and thinking all sorts of thoughts (usually chaotic and often repetitively mundane, but busy busy busy), but at night they rest – so being up at night, for me, is like having some psychic space you can relax and stretch out in. The air isn’t crowded and invasive.
