The barn up the road. This is the only place around here I've seen pigeons - inside the barn, and never outside. Is there such a thing as a pigeon shut-in? And can you call anything a shut-in if it lives in a place with such large openings? LOL.

Jen over at Whim & Vinegar has just started a friendly neighborhood Whim & Vinegar Forum - very cool!

I told you guys about having ripped the wall to wall carpeting out of the bathroom a few days ago. John and I then decided we'd paint the concrete floor underneath. We tossed around a lot of ideas and colors, but I was mostly tickled with the idea of a light color (off white or pale peach/pink as the walls are peach) and a terra cota color.

Today I went to the local Ace Hardware store and nosed around - most gallons of paint are $15+ and we didn't even want to spend THAT much on this little floor. So I left the store and noticed a SECOND discount bin outside that I had missed on the way in. In the bin was a gallon of pale pink/peach paint that said "Oops" on the lid - apparently someone had miss-mixed the paint. And a smaller pint size can of TERRA COTA colored paint. Those were the only two cans there! When I went inside to pay for them, one of the clerks pointed to the gallon can and said that she had just mixed that up this very morning - by mistake of course - heh heh.

And the best part? Both cans of paint cost me a total of $1.50 plus tax. Perfect! (If you don't hear from John or I in a few days we've probably painted ourselves into a corner by the bathtub and are waiting for the floor to dry - LOL!)

I know, I know, another shot of mustard. But I can't just drive by a field so YELLOW and NOT take a photo. I tried to get a close-up shot of some of the flowers but the wind kept moving everything around like the animated daisies in the Chuckle Patch on tv's Magic Garden - heh heh.

Someone on Metafilter's MetaTalk forum posted this link to descriptions and excellent comic images of FLAME WARRIORS. If you've been on email discussion lists or forums for ANY length of time, you'll love this. *grin*

Bad Idea: wall to wall carpeting in a bathroom. I just want to know who was smoking what when they thought up that one. There's just nothing you can DO when water gets into the carpet except either wet-dry vac it (which we don't have, and would have to drive a half hour to rent one) or wait for it to dry and then hope the moldy smell goes away.

In any case though, it's no longer something we have to deal with as we ripped it all out this morning - ahhhhhh! At the moment we're left with a concrete floor covered in carpet glue, but would you believe it's STILL better than it was? And a little glue solvent, some new paint, and sealer, and we'll have an entirely new bathroom experience. We should have done this a long time ago - LOL.

BTW, today is the only day that is also a command - "March Forth!" Heh heh.

This photo felt like me today. Nothing too directly symbolic, not "lone" or "grey" at all actually. Snug but misty? Soaring without the relativeness of ground perhaps? Ack - forget the words. Just look at the photo - as always, click on the thumbnail to see the larger image.
