I am not familiar with the speaker in this article but this statement: The world is getting more and more out of reach of simple people who have only religion. And the more they depend on religion, which of course solves nothing, the more the world gets out of reach. The oil money in the 70's gave the illusion that power had come to the Islamic world... really struck me, particularly since I tend to look at everything in terms of a person's beliefs and what those beliefs allow or prevent in their framework. It's helping to fill in some of those large empty spaces in my conceptual understanding of the present situation - which I will also continue to refine as I go.

The best potato chips are the thin ones that have folded over on themselves - all the potato-ey goodness of a thick chip and the light crispness of a thin one. :-)

And a geeky tidbit here - Lindows - it will be a Linux system that can run Windows applications. If they pull this off (no reason they shouldn't - the company creator is the same guy who did MP3.com) then we can use Linux AND still run our favorite Adobe (etc) applications. Stability AND versatility? *grin* With the release of Windows XP it's nice to see an alternative on the horizon. I like having choices. Anyway, we shall see!

Interesting - looks like Kenneth Brannagh has signed up to play Gilderoy Lockhart in the next Harry Potter movie! I have full confidence that he'll pull it off magnificently. I'm thinking of the Brannagh "Much Ado About Nothing" movie now - the only Shakespearian flick (always wanted to say that) I saw TWICE in a movie theater and laughed so hard that my eyes teared up.

Yesterday I heard an absolutely riveting statement on public radio, by a man doing a metaphysical show - I don't know his name though. He was talking about freeing the mind - now picture him saying this very slowly and deliberately. "When you're freed, you're not freed into nothingness. You're freed into a dimension where art ... is an obligation." My response was a huge 'click' in my psyche, a YES! that I'm sure has more meaning to me than I now know, even a day later. I love it when this happens. :-)

tom said, "A psychic told me once that I didn’t believe in psychics. Really fucked with my head because she was wrong." I think you got my brain stuck in an eternal loop here - whoa! :-) Reminds me of the time in seventh grade I read, "The following statement is true. The preceding statement is false." only yours is more multidimensional - ROFL.

Although Anthrax is a bacteria and not a virus, isn't it interesting that electronic viruses are mostly spread by email and anthrax has been spread by snail mail? I'm sure I'm not the first person to notice this, but it IS peculiar, no?

I did some arithmetic last night and figured out that I've made eleven shirts, one vest, and one pair of pants since I've started sewing, some for John, some for me. Neither of us have had that many new clothes in a LONG time, and it feels really good to see them all on hangers, in a row. Almost all of them were made with $2/yard fabric too (but still nice - LOL), so the total spent is probably about $50-$55 dollars overall. Considering that the shirts would go anywhere from $15-30 in stores, well, that's pretty damn cool too! But enough about that - I have another shirt to make! This one is a medium blue panne stretch velvet and I found this remnant cloth that would make a really cool vest or something over that shirt, so I have to go sit for a while and let the fabric tell me what it wants me to do. "I hear and will obey." ;-)
