(Thanks to my friend Sue for this one!)
Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness.
Concerning all acts of initiative there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and endless plans: That the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves, too.
All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamed would come his way.
Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it! Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.

Just below the 'fox vox' logo, I've added another link to the link line - for my writing. It's just a page with links to the articles I've written over the past few years (and one short story).
Eventually I want to redesign this site again, and have each subpage have its own personality and look. But for now I'll just stick with this basic design until the time to redesign washes over me like an irresistible wave. :-)

As you MIGHT be able to tell from the above 'special note' - *grin* - we are looking to move to Astoria, Oregon VERY SOON!!! We're reading over classified ads in the Daily Astorian, and I had an impulse to make an announcement here too, so that's what I did. (Isn't that a fascinating story? You should hear the one about how I made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich the other day - riveting!) Thank you for your attention - you may now go back to your regularly scheduled blog!

Haven't posted another time-user-upper link in a while so try this: SF Cave - you're a worm - click and release your mouse to move - don't touch the sides or the obstacles! (link via metafilter) Go play that until I come back. *grin*

I don't really know that I'd WANT my car to 'share' my mood or get into the emotional stream of things. When I get into my car my energy sort of BECOMES the car - I don't think in terms of operating some mechanism, it's a fluid symbiotic thing that goes beyond passing moods. It's almost as if this kind of thing is about the driver feeling less lonely, but the core belief behind that is that a lone driver DOES feel lonely. I don't feel lonely when I drive. And I don't feel cut off and lonely because I don't have a cell phone either (not that everyone who has one does it for that reason, of course). There's such a thing as connecting with yourself and your OWN energy and the car is a place I've always done that well and felt really 'aligned' there. The pod car linked above does sound CUTE though and it would be amusing to see OTHER people driving them on the road... at least for a little while - LOL.

I was scouting about, looking for blogs of people who seemed to have interests in making/having interesting clothing (renaissance-ish, etc.) and I ran across jessajune. Reading her most recent entry, I was laughing at her laughing at how people think ponies are "cute" - cuz my friend "B" had a shetland pony when she was a kid back in West Virginia and told me that everytime she tried to ride it they'd go through this series of obstacles where he'd try to brush her off against this hedge, then that, then try to knock her off on a low branch, until they both settled down. She would lay on his back and read a book and not make him walk and he would stand there and not try to knock her off. *grin* She also said that the pony lived a long time even after she moved away and got married, but when he died in her parents large back yard, her father just threw lime and a tarp over the corpse. Many many years later, that 'mound' is now a gorgeous flower garden that I actually saw in person - it was strange thinking of a pony skeleton being under all those gladiolas and mums.

To continue yesterday's birthday story.... for a mid afternoon lunch we went to DeMaggio's Cafe in Hollister (sorry - couldn't find any link for it). John and I both had their Fire Roasted NY Steak, which was the most buttery steak I'd ever had, grilled to perfect medium rareness with a dusting of pepper, served on thick slices of garlic french bread and with a side of garlic mayonaisse. Plus then for dessert, I had the creme brulee' and John had REAL NY Cheesecake with raspberry sauce on it, both made right there, no refrosted overwhipped desserts for us! After the meal, we wandered around the plaza a little because walking is a GOOD thing after eating so much excellent food - LOL - and we ended up at Staples. As many of you know, we have a somewhat... cough... OLD computer. And recently the printer just gave up the ghost after a valient effort with clicking and grinding each time we tried to print. Well, a lot of the newer printers, even the cheaper ones, aren't compatible, but we found one for $49 that perfectly replaces the old one! We were thinking that we should just stock up on printers instead of buying replacement ink cartridges because it's CHEAPER that way. *grin* We also came home with a version of SimFarm and I think John finally figured out how to stop his sheep from escaping. LOL. No, that is NOT a metaphor. ;-) And it looks like there's more fudge-birthday cake for breakfast today - life is good!

But I ENJOY your long winded-ness (particularly in stories from Upstate NY - my homeland as well), AND your insights about shoes, et al. (They sell platform sneakers over here too. And little cloth sneakers that feel like they have 10 extra pounds of rubber on the soles. I know I'm no fashion maven, but I really REALLY miss little suede boots (does that show me up as a child of the 80's?)) Anyway - thanks for all the left handed recommendations - no slap up side the head needed (this time - LOL!)

Happy Birthday to me, Sharon, and Tori! John sent me on a treasure hunt this morning, which ended in me pulling a tiny gift out of a fake skull wearing an eyepatch of sorts. It was an aluminum cast 'gold' (painted) coin that was an actual prop from the movie GOONIES! (He's such a good gift giver!) There were clues online and email clues and anagrams and chocolate too. *grin* Later on we're going to town for a nice dinner. What a cool way to celebrate - thanks John! :-)

There's nothing better than discovering that an online 'list' person you think is really cool has a weblog! I've added a link there to the left, but let me officially introduce Runs With Scissors by Tim, who's currently living in Madrid, mulling over his affection for pointy boots, and learning the differences between the 'to be' verbs in Spanish. *grin* Hi Tim! Thanks for giving me a new link to click on for methodological self-distraction - ROFL.

Because of the storm in the Gulf of Mexico area, we are getting what's called an 'offshore flow' - that means that the air is coming from the desert, passing through us and heading to the coast instead of the other way around. And THAT means that we've had unusually hot temperatures here, particularly for the middle of October - we're talking 90-100 degrees here - it's SO wrong. *grin*
Speaking of the middle of October, my birthday is on the 16th! And so is my college roommate Tori's (one cake and one party each year - LOL). And so is my friend Sharon's. All on the 16th. I always seem to get along really well with other Libras (although I can think of a FEW exceptions) and I can often TELL if a person is a Libra in just a little while. Kooky, eh? "Fun at parties" - LOL.
