Birds were popping into the garden area to drink some of the water that clings to the leaves of the zucchini plants after we've watered them. (Water isn't much to be found out here during the summer.) So I put an old bowl in the garden area and filled it with water as a bird bath. This morning I caught a large brown bird flying away from the garden area - his wings were wet and ruffled. Today I'm setting up a micropayment system for the bird bath - first one's free, right? ROFL - just kidding - I'm just cracking myself up over here.
Heh heh - the Garden Gnome Liberation Front strikes again! (NOT the Harry Potter variety Garden Gnomes, BTW, these are your GARDEN VARIETY garden gnomes. Oh, I just kill me.) *grin*
If you've wondered why most radio stations sound alike, it's because Clear Channel and Infinity Broadcasting (VIACOM's Infinity Broadcasting, also a CBS co.) together own a third of all of them in the country. Here's an article about the deregulation of the radio industry allowed by the Telecomm Act (and the resulting homogeneity), and the potential for the television industry to go the same way. It's an interesting, if somewhat disturbing trend, but I figure that they'll put themselves out of business with all of this inbreeding and in the meantime the rest of us will be researching and creating new opportunities for excellent broadcasting that includes a WIDE spectrum of all the terrific music that I KNOW is out there and doesn't get played. *grin*
I got a good laugh this morning - someone actually sent me (well, "webmaster") a copy of their resume and asked if there was anything they could do for our organization and that they wanted to get out of NYC. It's not that the resume itself wasn't ripe with experiences, of course, it's just that I'm not all that dazzled with this person's research skills... considering that "our organization" is John and me on our personal computer, and all the stuff on our main web site (besides the mugs and t-shirts) are all free for the clicking. Having said this, I'm developing a policy that email from people who haven't really looked at the site (this especially includes people who send submissions for the cc journal that aren't within the specifically stated guidelines and don't even have my name in the greeting (it's all on the guidelines page, folks!)) gets deleted without a response. If they don't have time, then I don't have time either. heh heh.
(rant mode) To all of those spiritual advanced beings here on earth who believe that they don't have egos or are trying to "get over" their egos.... As long as you're in physical reality you're going to have an ego AND a PERSONAL OPINION and that's not a bad thing. And there's no way we're all ever going to agree on everything, dissenting opinions don't mean there are arguments or dissonance. Variety really IS the spice of life and only leads to more variety. Harmony isn't the same as uniformity. Oh, and having and using well developed analytical skills CAN be used as a tool for separation and dissociation (some people use them without even knowing they are using them, to 'protect' themselves) but they can also used as a tool for refinement, re-evaluation, and growth. If you tried to visit this page earlier today and couldn't, there was a 'network error' with the company that hosts the server racks, but all seems to be functional again. Thanks for coming back - LOL.
I love scribbling down words and thoughts and then turning a little to the left and then the right and seeing where I end up. Sometimes I feel like I'm drawing in the energy just by doing that - trying to zero-in on what I want to create. I'll start with what I have and then decide what's right or off about it and step ahead and write down a NEW word or idea and then do the same thing again until I hit on it. Sometimes I'll be aware that I've gotten it, honed it down to exactly what's right, and will still take a while to let the real FEEL of it sink in. Hmmmm.
Yesterday at the Hollister Independence Rally: Leather jackets, leather vests, leather chaps, leather boots, black t-shirts, black tank tops, tanned skin, beards, sunglasses, tattoos, and motorcycles! Lots and lots of motorcycles. Of course, not EVERYONE has the usual "biker" look, but most of them did. You just couldn't NOT smile, looking around at all the amazing paint jobs (both on the bikes and the people) and all the shiny chrome! There were motorcycle clubs of all kinds - the "Top Hatters" (wearing black leather top hats, of course) were a long-lived, well known local club. And there were Christian motorcycle clubs (you could tell them apart from the others because they had on "Jesus loves bikers too" black t-shirts - LOL.) Most of the riders seemed to prefer those black half-shell helmets, which always remind me of D-Day in the original Animal House movie. Lots of old friends were meeting and clasping hands and jokingly insulting each other. I didn't stay for the official festivities, just wanted to take in the sites, but they also have a Ms. Independence Rally contest, a tatoo contest, racing, and stunt bikes, along with a live performance by the Fabulous Thunderbirds.
At one point when I was driving into town, my little Honda Civic was surrounded on all sides by at least 40 motorcycles, darting here and there - I just drove straight ahead and made no sudden movements - LOL. And on the 14 mile stretch of Hwy 25 to Hollister, I counted 287 motorcycles cruising by me. I'm really glad I went to this rally at least once and was able to take some photos (some from my car - I like to push the envelope by driving a stick shift in packed detoured traffic with motorcycles turning everywhere AND aim and take photos at the same time. *grin*) I didn't take too many pictures of the interesting people (although I'm sure had I asked if I could photograph people's tatoos they probably would have said SURE!, but, well, I didn't - heh heh.) So, click here to see the photos! (Note: The photos are mostly motorcycles, but amazing to see even if you don't know a Harley from an Indian. Oh, and BTW, the Hollister motorcycle cops are now riding Harleys too.)
Went to the Hollister Independence Rally yesterday to see all the motorcycles - whoa! *grin* Will write more later about after I go through the photos I took yesterday and select a few choice ones for public viewing. :-)
