Ever feel like you're squeezing yourself out of your current life (phase) and into your next one? Little by little all the reasons, conscious or unconscious, to hold yourself back go away and the road opens up in front of you. Sometimes you wake up to the whole new road, sometimes it's revealed gradually, like a long fade-in.
I don't know what's more disturbing, the fact that this article is about an implant technology that they are trying to market as a great way to keep ecommerce situations safe by being able to confirm the ordering person, that the company is saying that 'peace of mind' is this implant's main selling point, or the fact that I've just posted a link to world net daily. *shudder*
Saw the movie "Evolution". Heard critics say it was lame, but went anyway. LAUGHED MY ASS OFF! If you liked Ghostbusters, you'll like this. The casting is excellent, and the humor isn't hackneyed STUPIDITY - in fact, it makes fun of itself and its kind during the entire movie. I wasn't expecting too much when I went in, but I had a really good time. The only reason I think some critics didn't like it was because they were expecting your typical "idiotic" kind of stupid humor instead of what was really there. Sure - it wasn't such an original premise, but as has been said before, 'there's nothing new under the sun' - it's not the idea but the delivery that matters in cases like these. And yes, the rumors are true - you get to see David Duchovny's butt - LOL.
The Oxford-English dictionary has added "DOH!" (a la Homer Simpson) to their pages - a mutually prestigious step for these organizations, of course. *grin* (link via metafilter)
I made the world's best lasagna for dinner yesterday - you know when you really wish you could eat more because it tastes SO good? heh heh. ;-)
This morning, the "neighbors" decided that it was a good idea to drive an 18-wheeler flatbed down our road at 7:30, and unload a large piece of construction equipment, and then leave it running for 15 minutes while they left and came back. Nothing like our dogs barking like crazy and the smell of diesel filling the air to wake you up to a brand new day! (mutter, mutter, mutter)... and yet somehow tom slept through it all - I am in awe of his seemingly innate ability to ignore that which does not interest him, even when he's asleep - LOL.
While tom was sleeping, we secretly replaced his laptop computer with a chunk of balsa wood. Let's go to the cameras now, and see if he's noticed.... *grin* (Don't worry - we chose the non-human-flesh-eating kind of balsa wood.)
What a team! John and I used the springy auger thingy on the toilet this morning. (Sorry, no "auger cam" - wait, no, I'm not sorry - LOL) And THEN I used a small makeshift coathanger 'auger' on the bathroom sink, which has been draining slowly for months and only slightly helped by Draino. And now, both are plumbing peacefully again. Actually, if you can stand a little desription.... (stop reading now if you can't)... I pulled out a huge hardened blog from the bathroom sink, attached to the coat hanger end - years of mineral rich sediment there. It was oddly satisfying in a way - kinda like uncorking a champagne bottle. (LOL - I'm just cracking myself up over here. And to think, some people use their weblogs to discuss REAL issues - *grin*) In any case, hopefully this will be the end of the 'clog' saga. (Didn't they say that in the late 70's? But you can get clogs at every shoe store again today.) *groan* OKAY OKAY - I'll stop writing now.
Let's say you've got a situation that doesn't seem to change, no matter what you do. As you go, you notice that your RESPONSE to this situation changes each time it comes around until finally, not only are you not reacting or even feeling annoyed at it, suddenly you're looking at it in a whole new light. It's not that you like the situation any more than you used to - it's that you're at a point where you're now free to figure out what you'd want INSTEAD and have your energy truly focus on that preference. Before, you could only say that you wished this other thing would happen, but you weren't REALLY focusing on that, you were focusing on how much you disliked the situation in front of your face.
