Some Simpsons trivia: In the episode where Bart discovers the comet, they try to blow up the comet with a missile and end up hitting the bridge instead. Before the missile hits, the sign next to the bridge says, "Only Bridge Out of Town" and after the missile hits, parts of the sign fall down and it just says, "Bridge Out". I thought that was rather clever - I watched that episode many times before I spotted that - LOL! (Any comments to the tune of "get a life" will be duly ignored.)
Now, here's something I didn't know: "Chickens are not, by nature, vegetarians. Indeed, they have a ravenous appetite for worms, grubs, and insects." How about THAT?
Funny - have been thinking about goals lately. And about 'stepping into' the person I really want to be. I'd been kinda feeling like I was floundering a little. (As a rather 'goal oriented' individual, I find it somewhat disconcerting to NOT have a goal. Although sometimes NOT having a goal is just a precurser to finding one too. *grin*) Anyway, yesterday, I intuitively connected with the energy of my 'future self' - the person I want to be, and since then I feel like I'm being drawn forward MUCH faster.
It's like when you're on a drive and you don't know where you are going. You can pretty much stop anywhere and do anything, but is it really what you are WANTING to do? And when you find that place you want to be, you can really focus your energy towards achieving that. You can point the car and go instead of driving around in circles, even if you have been admiring the countryside - LOL.
So, in confirmation of that, today's "quote of the day" in my inbox was this:
"The most important thing about having goals is having one." - Geoffrey F. Albert
Sometimes you have to get conscious of what's really important to you. You can have all of these ideas swimming around in your head, but until you connect them with your own desires and motivations, they're just ideas. Me, personally, I often have lots of ideas and I will KNOW that I want to do them, but then I have to ask myself, "Why?" And I can't just settle for mental 'explanations', as good or reasonable or plausible as they may be. I have to look at why doing or having something will really fulfill me. That's a really intuitive or gut-feeling level thing.
The worst thing about really hot weather is when the dogs amble over and sit down right next to you and look at you, while panting, knowing that there's SOMETHING you could do about the weather if you just understood. The second worst thing is when the dogs just sit next to you because, face it, they're covered with FUR and their breath isn't any arctic breeze either, let me tell you.
Ever felt other than "human" inside? Personally, I've always felt akin to dragons. :-) If you've been wanting to hook up with people who feel less 'human' and more 'something else', then visit Otherkin - a really cool, respectful, and yet humorously implemented site about this very thing. I just read an article there about how Otherkin and SCAers (society for creative anachronism - you know, "rennies", the people that do the renaissance faires, among other things) can best get along when historical accuracy and fantasy collide. Lots of other stuff on the site to investigate as well.
It's going to be about a hundred degrees again today. There's a lot of wind blowing in tomorrow that will shift all of that, but today, well, what can I say. Hmm - I want to consider the option that it's not going to be as hot as yesterday, and so I shall. I just get really tired and bored of always DRINKING so damn much all the time, and it just barely keeping me from being dehydrated, or so it seems. "What did you do today, Kristen?" "Oh, I drank things. All day." "How exciting for you!" *snort*
Okay, time to play with the comments a little by posing a poll question. Let's say that by some divine insight you knew your time was up in physical reality and that just after dinner, you were going to go on to your next big adventure (er... that means DIE. *grin*) What would you eat as your last meal? (Respond in comments.)
People always say, "Well, you have to use common sense!" But to me, "common" sense means approach the situation as you know everyone else would - kind of a "thinking/believing with the masses" thing. My experience with "mass" thinking is that it's usually a little behind the times. I'd much rather rely on my own intuitive sense and what *I* know to be "true" for me. And here's a quote I got in my inbox this morning that spurred this whole post into existence and nicely echoes the sentiment as well:
It's counter to common sense, but common sense is only based on a very small subset of the universe. - Ian J. Davenport
Ye Olde Bunnye has decided that since the wildflower stems didn't taste all that good, that he'd sample the marigolds in the tire garden. He sampled most of them down to bare stems and they had been such lovely things! *sigh* He hadn't touched a couple of the smaller ones that just started to grow, so I dug them up and put them in little pots inside - I hope they continue to grow indoors. But in OTHER marigold news - the other two potted marigolds (that we've been growing inside from the start) have little flower buds on the top of them now - woo hoo! (And they say "watching grass grow" isn't exciting - LOL)
The Mystery Spot trip was fun. :-) On the one hand there really WAS a lot of energy there of some kind - you could feel it kinda pressing down on your head and making you a little dizzy or lightheaded. On the other hand, the tour guides (yes, it was a tour - you couldn't just investigate it on your own, which was a little disappointing, but oh well) have all of these little 'experiments' to involve the crowd and play with angular perception a lot. At one 'experiment' a ball actually felt a LOT heavier inside the perimeter of the mystery spot than outside - just a few feet of difference. (Since this experiment couldn't be as confused with optical illusions as the other ones, it seemed more "real" - LOL) All in all though, it was a fun day trip and the company was terrific.
Then, we went to Chili's for lunch after the tour. We asked the server for a pitcher of soda and they said they weren't allowed to do that. Next thing we know, they are plunking a pitcher down on the table, after we'd already dismissed it. Now THAT'S using 'the force'! LOL.
So the Pearl Harbor movie is disappointing people... come on now. It's a Disney movie about Pearl Harbor and (I've heard that) they didn't even have any soldiers smoking. That's all I'll say about THAT! LOL.
So we're off to the Mystery Spot now - if you don't hear from me again, it's most likely that we've fallen through the energy vortex into another dimension or probability/parallel reality. Although maybe blogger exists there as well. *grin*
Tomorrow, John, a friend of his from work, our friend tom, and I are heading over to the coast to the Santa Cruz area and are going to visit the Santa Cruz Mystery Spot, which, from the descriptions, sounds like a vortex of energy. Compasses don't work there and there seems to be a ton of energy. There are pictures on the site of people leaning against nothing. We're taking along our C.P. (coordinate point) Investigation Kit - heh heh - dowsing rods, crystals, etc. and will see what we can see! Another great thing about going there is that it's going to be really cool weather wise and hopefully foggy - nothing like being in tall redwoods and other trees with foggy, misty air and the smell of moss and fresh earth. Ahhhhh.
