The night before last I had a dream that my great aunt clara (deceased) was helping me look through a furniture catalog. She was asking me what kind I liked and I was saying that I liked medieval kind of stuff, but didn't see anything in the catalog that really spoke to me. LOL. And late this morning, I dreamt that I was going through a local furniture store, browsing for a new mattress! Oddly enough, they had a normal mattress section and also this section for weird looking beds, semi-goth almost. There WAS this really cool 'cavish' thing set up in the corner - made out of fake fur. Don't ask - I didn't. :-)
I had a dream last night that blogger took out the interim page between the one where you log in and your actual blog entry page - you know, that page where you get to click on which blog you want to work on? Huh. *shrug*
In other design news, yes tom, certainly IS the season for designing! I had a temporary index page up for the cc site - it was okay and had a little flash animation on it... but it was kinda bland. So yesterday, I just followed more impulses and redesigned it again. Like the fox vox design, I think it'll keep for a while. I started out with a font for the title graphic that reminded me of greek or roman writing on buildings, and then I added columns (literally), and a neat background, which then reminded me of waves, and a laurel wreath, and then nautilus shells - overall, the design feels vaguely "Atlantian" to me now - huh. Anyway - go check it our for yourselves and see what YOU think. *grin*
You have to make decisions about your life based on the way you see the world. There is no one way to see things - it's all perspective. The illusion that there's one 'general way' to see the world just keeps us second guessing ourselves. So if you believe something, then it IS true for you, and when you take actions based on what you believe rather than what you're SUPPOSED to believe, and you can feel good about your choices, that's integrity. At least - that's my latest opinion about integrity. *grin*
YAY - it worked! You will notice the new design and the new title of the blog. It started as "One Blog Beyond" and as a three-person blog, but sort of evolved into just MY blog. I called it 'fox vox' - meaning voice of fox - because 'Fox' is my last name, and well, it just seemed entirely too clever. "Yeah - clever like a FOX!" Wait - that is actually a mutilation of a Simpson's quote, but it worked too well - LOL. Anyway - hope you like it - I might actually keep this design for a while! (famous last words)
First, thanks to Ev at blogger for getting it to run more smoothly - cheers! Second - there are going to be a few changes to this blog - coming soon! heh heh. I know - I'm evil.
Remember that scene in Phenomenon where John Travolta's character is standing over a fault line and he gets nauseous from the ULF (ultra low frequency) waves he's feeling and knows from this feeling that an earthquake is coming? Well, last night I was sick to my stomach and couldn't eat a thing. This morning I was still a little sick. At 10:22, the house gave a solid lurch - twice - the lurchiest I've ever felt here, even though it was 'only' a 3.9. When I checked the quake site it turns out that there's been a LOT of earthquake activity here since midnight, including a 3.1 at about 6, a 3.0 at 7 ish and that 3.9 at 10:22. Now - if only I could REMEMBER that when I feel nauseous that would most likely mean geologic instability, that could be more handy as a 'predicter' - heh heh.
Today John came back from a walk with the dogs with a wounded bird. Actually our labrador had found it, and it had tried to get away from her, but couldn't fly. Being a lab she didn't hurt it at all. The bird looked like some kind of small raptor, like a hawk or falcon - hooked beak and all that. So we called the Nan Pipestem Wildlife Rehabilitation Center which just HAPPENS to be right down the road from us, and they told us to bring the bird over. The woman there said that it was a Kestrel! And it seemed to be doing okay when we left - they're going to keep us posted on its progress. ...John's always finding animals to take care of - I'm sure you know one of THOSE kinds of people too - LOL..
One of life's major mysteries - if a person manages to subscribe themselves to an email list, why is it they can't UNsubscribe themselves too? As a list admin, I don't MIND doing those kinds of things, but I just wonder. I mean - if you sign up by sending in a blank email, you do the same thing to unsub, but putting "unsubscribe" instead of "subscribe" in the address. And if you do it via the eGroups/Yahoo website (which you use, even if you put your name in at the cc site), then there's an 'unsubscribe' option right there at all times too. That aside, I am amused by unsubscribe requests that happen every time the list gets a little peckish *grin* that only say things like "GET ME OFF THIS LIST!!!!" And just to be fair, people MAY have tried to unsub themselves but Yahoo is messing with them/the site - still getting the kinks out - that kind of thing. But ANYWAY... I think I'm going to take the night off - LOL.
In keeping with the large feet theme *grin* - I actually found what was labeled 'plus-size' socks yesterday! This may be old news to some of you, but I had been so used to getting socks in the 'fits 8-10 size' range that didn't REALLY (my feet are basically a size 10) fit that range - the socks always felt tight and squished a bit. Well, I got socks yesterday that were for the 9-11 range and WOW - what a difference! They fit my feet AND came more than just a little ways over my ankles.... Sometimes the small victories are just as cool as the 'big' ones. If I won the lottery tomorrow, I'd still be damn happy about these socks. heh heh.
Brilliantly simple thought of the day: "If you can't think of anything good, then don't think at all." (Thanks, RaYvon!)
To me this means - if you can't dwell on something that makes you feel good, don't dwell at all. There's no need to be THINKING something 24 hours a day. Just BE, or CREATE something. Go draw. Mentally paint the room a different color. Once you feel good again, then turn the thinking back on, and reconnect with the good thoughts. ... Or something like that. LOL.
