I saw a majorly bright object in the sky last night - it was stunningly huge. John says it was Venus on the horizon, which makes sense, but I was having all sorts of fun ideas about UFOs. *grin* Oh well. Quote time: "You know, many people think they've seen a UFO... when what they've actually seen... is the planet Venus."
Woo Hoo! Our bull problem is solved! :-) It feels so GOOD to not listen for bellowing and have to run out with a shovel. *grin* The rancher (and landlord, helping him out) had a hell of a time herding the bull down the road and into another pasture because he kept stopping along the side of the road to eat. LOL, but anyway - so you won't be hearing any bull stories from me anymore, probably for a LONG time. (you may all breathe a collective sigh of relief). There was however, this one little dusky brown male calf that was starting to bellow just like the bull did..... *evil grin*
Okay, now, the REASON that the last post got interrupted in the middle was because I heard a cow moo. Not a bull, a cow, which meant the whole herd was coming along. (Tired of cow stories yet - just click on another link at the top of the page - LOL) Which meant they'd be in our yard, coming in through the bull-holes (so many jokes, so little time) in the fence. The first one that I saw was actually the OTHER bull (red & white) and the black bull that was already in our yard got really scared and wary all of a sudden. Then, they were staring at each other over the fence - it was rather intense. (We watched them scrape with each other and butt heads in the field once - didn't want that in our yard - they could have taken out the entire fence in no time flat, just pushing each other around.)
So John and I ran outside, and were at least able to close the INNER gates so they couldn't get directly into our yard. Called our landlord - he said he'd come right over. Watched the cows (lots of little ones - they ARE really cute) all rush in and mill about, looking for grass.
Anyway, since I'm tired of writing about cows right now I'll just summarize - landlord came, helped herd them out of the yard and down the river a ways, we closed the gates, and our landlord said that the owner was going to move one of the bulls to another pasture. FINALLY! YES! Actually, that's probably all the black bull ever wanted, a pasture of his own away from the red & white bull. LOL. Okay - I'm going to go do something non-cow related now. No - really! (tom - you sorry you went home so early and missed all of this? *grin*)
In other news - the new Conscious Creation Journal is now online! Yes, it is continuous, and yes, it uses Blogger and even has a little flash animation at the top as the logo. There are seven new articles there right now and new ones will now be coming in all the time. Whew! I'm glad my blogger template worked first time - I hate it when a page people are used to accessing... LOL... I got interrupted when I was writing this and just posted it before, thinking I had finished it... okay... here's the finish - - - a page and then it comes out all screwy and weird for a while. I don't mind fiddling with stuff, but not where people can WATCH - heh heh.
Yesterday, our landlord spent a few hours on his tractor, scraping most of the green grass out of our side pasture so that dang bull wouldn't be attracted by it anymore. So of course, last night, just after it got dark, he came around again. The bull, not our landlord. *grin* We chased him off, but got cold and bored when he just stood a ways away from us, so we went inside, knowing full well he'd break in. SO.. we just opened up the fences inside our yard so he wouldn't break any more boards (hopefully) So about 8 p.m. he met our expectations. *rolling eyes* He ate all night, and even slept under the large live oak tree by our porch and now he's still out there, prowling around and eating. Because the rains haven't been very consistent or timely, the grasses on the hills haven't been growing very much, so this is probably the best meal he's had in a long time.
We're hoping that if he just eats it all, then he won't be back for a long time (and then maybe we'll have moved by then - pity the next tenants *grin*). What's kinda strange is that this feels like the right thing to do - it's kinda like 'resistance is futile' in one way, but also, we really DON'T have any worries that he'll damage the house or our car, and this might be the most direct way to a solution. We ARE thinking of sending the bill for fence repair and poop cleanup to the bull's owner though. I don't pretend to understand the owner's lack of action in this case - I guess the ranchers experience this kind of thing every so often with each other's livestock and so just repair it themselves, figuring it will all work out. But you'd think he'd be a little more concerned since we're NOT ranchers, and if that bull DID damage the car or one of us, he WOULD be liable for it. Oh well - I don't see any of that happening anyway. The only hassle right now is having to take the dogs out on leashes for a while.
Apparently, this is Deepak Chopra's new web site venture. (link via metafilter) I dunno about you, but I'm not especially "inspired" by a zillion shots of stock photography and a fundamentally business-looking design. But then again, I'm probably NOT their target audience... are YOU? *grin*
Well, this is a sneak preview for all those who read the Conscious Creation Journal - we're switching from a bimonthly format to a continuous format - meaning we'll publish articles as we get them. Will keep the stream of newness flowing more readily instead of being a large project at the end of every two months. Also, we're going to be using blogger for the index page - making the article title links entries in a weblog - that will easily put the date and time that an article was added right under the article. I've got a bit of work and adjusting to do on this today, so... more later. Oh, and tom has gone back home today, so you can expect more entries on his own weblog - he'll probably start out by saying how wonderful a DSL connection is in comparison to our dial-up on a fuzzy phoneline - LOL!
Early this morning I was having this very, sorta literal dreams. I guess one of the best ways to describe it is that my dreaming consciousness felt very much like my usual waking consciousness. Anyway, there was one point where I put these paint brushes (artistic brushes) on a little bookcase thing that was filled with other art supplies - it felt really good to just have them all in one place - like when you can stare at something you just LOVE and soak it in. OH! I just got this - it felt like it was 'complete' - like all my 'tools' were in one place now. Ooooh - I like that! *grin*
I almost forgot to congratulate tom on his new blog design! It's VERY cool - and as I've seen from the programming side - VERY well put together! :-) It's also very FLAT, which is a cool and unique design choice in the middle of all the drop shadows and clickable 'tabs' everywhere. Hazzah!
What if we didn't take responsibility for other people's feelings? What if, when someone else was feeling a certain way, we just asked them about it instead of trying to change them? What if we accepted that that's just how they wanted to feel? Or what if we asked them if that's the way THEY WANTED to feel? Sometimes I think that it's commonly believed that we ARE our feelings and that having control or CHOICE about them means repressing them, but it doesn't. Sometimes I really DO want to feel self-pity. And sometimes I want to feel happy, or intense, or spaced out. In any case, I love talking with people who take full responsibility for their own feelings, even if they have no real idea or reason WHY they're feeling what they are - no reasons are needed anyway. :-) "Because I felt like it." - LOL.
