It's no wonder that many 'new age spiritual' types have such negative feelings about money and power - the most dominant expressions of it in movies and tv is negative! But there are also extremely creative examples of money and power that we tend to overlook as actually BEING examples of money and power. Take George Lucas and Steven Spielberg - they have SO MUCH money - they weild TREMENDOUS power - and they are extremely creative! People like them are my new role models. I've always had this nagging doubts about who I'd become if I had money and power, but you know what? I trust myself! And the silly power games in the negative examples in the media just BORE me to even think about. With MY power - I'm going to CREATE. I'm going to make my life a work of ART! Artists don't have time to futz with all the other crap. Besides, channeling your own creative energy is such the ultimate high that nothing else can really compare. I've been really creative even with limited resources, and that's taught me to focus on what I want and allow creative solutions that wouldn't perhaps be allowed outside the usual framework of how things happen. But you know what? While working with limited resources can be rewarding, I've been there, done that, to death. My interests have expanded now, and I want to find out who I am WITHOUT all of those old boundaries and limitations! YES! It's like going from painting with white and blue oil to seeing what you create when you have all the watercolors, acrylics, and oils you want, including different surfaces, fabrics, metals, jewels - etc. - you name it!

Hey Everyone! Not long after I posted the previous message here, we lost power. Now we'd been wanting some rain so we could replenish our water tank, which was dangerously low. So it rained and rained and rained - unfortunately, when we lost electricity in the middle of all the rain on Wednesday, we also lost the ability to pump the well! We stuck it out here on Wednesday night, but Thursday just got way too cold and we weren't sure how much water we actually had (for showers, flushing the toilet, etc.) so we booked it to a motel close to where John works, with dogs in tow. It was actually a nice change - not just because of the heat, the nicer bed, and the abundance of water, but also the little things... like having CARPET and walking around barefoot. Our little house out here is very... "camp" like (not 'kitsch' but like a real CAMP camp) and walking around barefoot just isn't a pleasant experience (for most of us, that is, not mentioning any names tom) - too much grit and dirt and other stuff (since our yard is sandy dirt and then WET sandy dirt) and its COLD too. So anyway - we're back now - miss us? LOL.

Today is 01-10-01! And just think - we still have 10-01-01 and 10-10-01 to look forward to this year. How utterly... ... binary! LOL.

I got the most astonishing New Years card from my friend Tara. Actually, I consider pretty much everything that Tara does to be astonishing, she's one of the most wonderfully artistic people I know. She really leads with her heart and everything comes out so... well, as the kind of thing that you just stare at and soak up.

Have you ever had so many ideas and exciting thoughts about projects that you feel you're going to burst? Just asking. Actually, you MIGHT say it like this too - when you finally lose most of the restrictive beliefs around flowing your own energy or creativity, the energy that comes through is astounding and almost overwhelming! (In that good Las Vegas way, of course. LOL.) I learned this first from building dams and pools with John and Tom and then breaking the dams and watching the waters pour forth. Heh heh.

Hell, the stream isn't JUST down by the road now - it's pretty much COMPLETE! Even our small pool (just a deeper part of the stream by a large rock formation) is completey filled! Woo Hoo! I was walking around in the rain for about an hour, looking at all the dams and channels John, Tom, and I had built last spring when the stream had still been running, and most of them are still working. Heh heh. BTW, the sounds of rain on a large body of water is almost like cicadas or even a hiss almost. :-)

This is so cool! The Infinity Project is about a guy that makes solid glass "planets" out of multicolored glass, and then he plants them in various parts of the world to be "discovered" at a later date. *grin* "It's fun to hide my Planets and have people find them, perhaps hundreds of years from now. I got the idea one Spring while digging garden beds. I found several marbles that children had lost sixty or seventy years ago, and they were as colorful and bright as the summer afternoon they were misplaced. In the past twenty years, friends and I have placed Planets in exotic and mundane locations all over the Earth. To find one, you just have to start looking." (Once again, thanks for the link, Metafilter.)

I woke up at 4 a.m. to the most wonderful sound - RAIN against the roof! It wasn't even a 'shower' it was a good ol' RAIN! Our stream has been creeping down the streambed for days, without the benefit of ANY rainwater adding to it (just ground water), and it just might have gotten a crucial boost last night. I'm sure it's probably down to our little sideroad now.

See, the countryside out here is completely different even when there's just a LITTLE stream flowing. Suddenly, the place doesn't seem to dry and stagnant and motionless. And when the sun's out - desert like. I've already done a little dam building too - yesterday I blocked off a tributary that had formed so that the little amount of water that was flowing would continue to flow in ONE stream instead of splitting off for a little while - I wanted the stream to reach the road sooner - LOL.

You know, it's kinda strange to me how happy this little stream makes me feel again. I genuinely missed it! Ahhhhh.

Hey, the Goonies House is being auctioned on EBay! Now I'm off to find some treasure - it just so happens I found this old pirate map in the attic... "It all starts here."

There's a place in our yard that is about a foot deep in old, crinkly live-oak leaves (very much like holly leaves - stiff and pointy). I was walking through there today and it felt like I was tromping through acres of corn flakes. *grin*

If you've ever wanted your own HOVERCRAFT, this guy has the plans from the ones he's built. What I love about this is that this guy I've linked to is purportedly a teenager and he says that it only cost him $400 to build his craft, and just the other day I was at a site where this retired aeronautic engineer was making these really COMPLEX (and expensive) hover-type craft that didn't QUITE work right - LOL. *grin* (Thanks for the link Metafilter.)
