Celtic Pyramid Mandala Art

I’ve got new art to share – the Celtic Pyramid Mandala! The official description – “The Celtic Pyramid Mandala features triangle knotwork in copper verdigris multicolors, surrounded by sun rays and more knotwork, like an ancient Celtic-Egyptian-Aztec-Mayan fusion!” I had a lot of fun giving this piece textures and odd colors to make it look weathered and ancient. I think part of my subconscious influence in this design may have been the first Tomb Raider movie – heh.

Canadian Geese on New York’s Frozen Hudson River

It’s really amazing to me how happy the geese seemed to be, floating along in the sparkling ice water like it was just a warm summer day, standing and walking on the ice – fantastic birds! And big! *grin*

Hudson River Ice Breakup Photos

We got to the river at the perfect time, as the accumulated ice from the long, cold winter was really starting to break up! There’s a fantastic mix of water, ice flows, smaller chunks, and thinner, clear, sharp angled slabs.

The first photo is of the Hudson River ice near the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge…

This second photo is all water and ice….

You can really see all the shades, angles, and sparkles in the larger version – just click the image for the larger version and to purchase prints – that goes for all of these photos.

The last photo in this little group is the ice flowing downstream. It was making all sorts of splashing, creaking, and clunking noises – I still have to check to see if the video picked up all the neat audio though, so that might have to wait for a later post.

Seagulls On Ice

John and I found a great spot to take photos of the frozen Hudson River the other day. Here’s the first one – Seagulls on Ice! (Nothing like Pigs in Space, but you’re certainly free to say it like that if you like.)

I’ve never really seen seagulls hanging around on ice floes before, usually just sandy beaches and fast food parking lots.  In this shot, I especially like the pointy, glass-like shards of ice you can see floating in the background.

A Bit of Snow for Valentine’s Day

We got 14-16″ of snow yesterday and early this morning. It’s very pretty, but it took me a half-hour of digging before I FOUND the mailbox.  I still have to dig it out so that the mail carrier can REACH it from their truck.  Later.  Maybe.  LOL.
