I think it's rude when people subscribe to a discussion list solely for the purpose of advertising their web site or services, no matter how 'related' THEY think they are to the lists' topics. It would be, at the very least, more considerate to simply send an email to the list admin asking permission to post or asking THEM to send it on to the list should they deem it applicable. It would be even BETTER if most people who DO subscribe just to advertise weren't laboring under the assumption that "getting the word out there" is so dang important or even crucial to the world's survival in some way. (uh... yeah) Having said all of that, I DO think it's really great when participating and/or long-term members of a discussion list share their work, website, whatever. :-) So there.
